Editor's review

This is a tool that helps find differences in files, folders, directories and databases.

Altova DiffDog is a powerful, easy-to-use diff merge tool. It will help you find differences and merge different files, folders, directories, and databases. This tool is XML aware. It lets you quickly compare and merge text or source code files, synchronize directories, and compare database schemas and tables. This has a simple and easy to use interface. It is intuitive enough that most users should get familiar with it quite easily. Getting productive with it should not take much time. DiffDog also provides XML-aware differencing and editing capabilities. Text files could be compared and merged easily. These include source code files, Word documents and compressed ZIP archives. As the tool supports Unicode, ASCII, MBCS, and other file formats it is possible to compare and merge any type of text-based file. It is possible to edit either of the comparison items or even in the output file. You could update the existing file or create a new one.

XML files and schema can be compared, merged, and edited easily. It offers features like well-formedness and validation checking, code completion, entry helpers, XML-conformant syntax coloring, etc. This would be very handy Web and software developers working with XML. Table contents and database schemas can be compared and merged easily. Developers’ version and production version of databases or two different database types could be compared for merging. Merging can be through SQL scripts. Folders can be maintained in sync through the folder compare and merge functionalities. This is a very good product. If you are looking for a similar solution, you should try it in your exact workflow.

Publisher's description

Altova DiffDog 2016 Enterprise Edition is the powerful differencing tool for files, folders, and databases. This easy-to-use synchronization tool quickly compares and merges text or source code files, directories, databases, and XML Schemas on your local workstation or across FTP and HTTP servers. DiffDog provides advanced XML-aware differencing and editing capabilities based on those in Altova XMLSpy, and integrates with any version control system that supports external differencing applications. For optimal efficiency, you can edit content directly within its differencing display, merge changes, and instantly re-compare. Intelligent syntax-coloring, line numbering, indentation guides, and other innovative features assist in comparing source-code and XML files. DiffDog tells you when XML files are semantically equal even if they are not identical in a text-based comparison. Its XML differencing capabilities include DTD/schema-based validation, well-formedness checking, intelligent entry helpers, optional entity resolution, and more. DiffDog compares Microsoft Word documents in a side-by-side view with word processor functionality. DiffDog intelligently compares directories, applying special comparison rules based on each file type, prints directory comparison results, or opens and edits file pairs directly from a directory comparison. DiffDog even compares the contents of Zip archives based on the original file types. You can selectively move files into target directories or sync entire directories in a single step. DiffDog lets you compare and merge database structures or table contents, whether they are the same database type or different databases. After comparing XML Schemas, DiffDog can generate an XSLT file or a MapForce mapping to convert XML documents. Let DiffDog 2016 Enterprise Edition track down the differences in your development and database projects. DiffDog is available in 32-bit and 64-bit versions. Free trial:
